Sweet and Savoury By Mary

Posted on 10/07/202006/03/2022

The news is full of reports that we are due to have a heat wave, so it seems the perfect time to share our review of Sweet and Savoury by Mary, a Birmingham based bakery from home, so you can get your orders in.

We were kindly given a box of their delights yesterday and they went down a treat. Fresh, vibrant and tasty. This box of beautifully presented goodies costs just £25 and would be perfect as a treat, a birthday, special events, to celebrate Eid, for a teacher thank you gift or for a picnic.

Definitely for a picnic. So much so, we have already said that next time we go on a picnic, we will be ordering one. Yum!

The grazing box arrived in a white box, sealed with gold ribbon and a lovely message on a card for us. Such a nice touch, making us smile.

Once we opened the box, we were blown away with the quality and quantity of food. A great mix of well known favourites and also an introduction to Pakistani Street Food in the form of Pappri Chat which was absolutely amazing, full of sensational flavours.

So, what was in our grazing box?

  • White chocolate drizzled croissants x 2
  • A cute jar of nutella
  • Breadsticks to dip into the nutella
  • Pretzels
  • A variety of fruits including passionfruit, cherries, strawberries and kiwi
  • Chicken wraps x 2
  • Pappri Chat x 2
  • Little jar of jam
  • Hummus
  • Chocolate Brownies x 4
  • Largest raspberry and white chocolate muffin I’ve ever seen
  • Cheese biscuits
  • Ferrero Roche dessert cups x2
  • Oreo dessert cups x 2
  • Meatball Pastry Pizzas

And a whole lot of love and care.

The presentation, quality and flavours within this box were phenomenal. Boxes can be personalised, so if you have dietary requirements, these can be catered for.

What was our favourite?

My favourite was the Pappri Chat. I had never tried it before and couldn’t believe how light, fresh and tasty it was. The pomegranates on the top were a perfect accompaniment to the chickpeas at the bottom of the pot.

My husbands favourite was the giant raspberry and white chocolate muffin which I also tried. There was no scrimping on fillings and flavours. Tasty and very moreish.

Jemima was in heaven with her pot of nutella and Breadsticks and Matilda tells us it was ALL her favourite. She enjoyed bits of everything, eyeing up everyone elses portion too. Ha! Although I think she may have enjoyed the homemade chicken wrap the most.

Conclusion

To conclude, we absolutely loved this grazing box and cannot wait to order another box in the future.

Thank you so much.
