We absolutely love being outdoors in the fresh air, so were really excited when we recently found out about the delights of Norburys Norrest Farm and cherry picking.
We headed along on Sunday afternoon and were happy to see that social distancing was in place and that the field full of cherry trees was so large, we had no worries about having to dodge people.
When you first arrive, you park up and head to a kiosk where you choose the size tub to pick your cherries. We had two punnets and walked down the road to the cherry field. It was about a 3 minute walk. Some people drove closer to the cherries, but we didn’t mind a short walk.
There were loads of cherries. Both low down for children to pick and high up for adults.
You can also use the ladders scattered around the fields to help you get the cherries you want.
Jemima climbed a tree too (minus ladders) when she found some that she had to have.
You can bring along your own picnic here and sit on the cherry field to enjoy it. We had a sit down and enjoyed some drinks we had put in our picnic bag.
It was so lovely and quiet that the girls could be themselves. Running around, playing duck, duck, goose and tag, giggling and laughing, far away from other people. It was nice, relaxing and exactly what we needed.
When we finished picking the cherries, we headed back to the kiosk to pay for them. They are weighed in their punnets and given back to you. Our two full punnets of cherries and a punnet of plums picked at the kiosk (plums will be available to PYO in a few weeks) came to just under £10, which we thought was a bargain.
We loved our trip to Manor Farm Fruits in Tamworth a few weeks ago, but if I had to pick a favourite, it would be Norburys Norrest Farm. We were here longer and spent less money, with no entrance fee and only paying for exactly what you pick.
If you would like to go, they are open (weather permitting) Wednesdays to Friday 2pm – 5pm, Saturdays and Sundays 10am – 5pm.
They have a Facebook page where you can check if they are open before you go.
The address for your sat navs is; Norburys Norrest Farm, Norrest Farm, The Norrest, Leigh Sinton, Malvern, WR13 5EH.
Currently only the cherries are available to pick, but keep checking the facebook page as they also have PYO apples, pears, plums, damsons and green walnuts.
Looks like a fun activity to do!!! It’s nice to be outdoor and doing something totally different from the ordinary!
xoxo and stay safe!
Yes, totally. We love being outdoors and cherry picking was so fun. Give it a try if you get the chance 🙂 xx
I didn’t know this place existed. We love cherries. Brett nearly bough a tree for our tiny garden the other day, think I’ll try to convince him a trip to pick some is a better idea
Ha! The trees are so pretty, definitely get one too 😍. But visit here. It is so pretty and cheap too xx
