Manor Farm Fruits PYO Strawberries

Posted on 20/06/202006/03/2022

Today we headed along to Manor Farm Fruits to the PYO Strawberries field.

With Covid-19 you now had to pre-book your One Hour time slot online.

We thought it was wonderfully organised. Social distancing was superb and we felt so relaxed being able to do something that we love doing.

To ensure social distancing is achievable, groups of up to 4 people from the same household or bubble are allowed on to the field. It is £2 per person (once you book online, tickets are emailed to you, for you to print off or show on your phone to the cashier on entry to the field). You pay for your fruit before you pick them by choosing which sized punnet you would like.

A collage of photos from our visit

A 1kg punnet is £6 or you can have a large 2kg round tub for £12 (obviously these are the weights once you’ve filled them to the top of strawberies).

When you have paid for your strawberries and been given your punnet or tub, you are asked to sanitise your hands before entering the field. I was impressed with the sanitiser machine used as you get it to squirt by pressing a pedal with your foot, so no one needs to touch the sanitiser bottle and spread germs with hands. A fabulous idea and further demonstrates how well thought out the PYO fields at Manor Farm Fruits are.

Social distancing has been really well thought out.

After you have sanitised your hands, you meet your PYO warden who escorts you to your PYO lane.

We were lane number 33. You are asked to walk through the lane which has two sides of strawberries to pick from.

And there were so many strawberries!! Don’t be put off by hearing you only get one lane, the lane is really long and to demonstrate how long it is, my girls had filled their punnets up (so 2kg of strawberries) all before we had even reached a 1/3 of the way down our lane.

So many strawberries!

The lanes are a one way system, so you work your way up the lane picking your strawberries and when you have finished, you turn right and walk along to the shrubbery at the end of the field and follow that around to head to the car park. So bare this in mind when picking your strawberries – you can’t walk back down your aisle to collect strawberries that you have passed.

Other things to note are that the toilets are not open and there’s obviously no restaurant at the moment. So make sure little ones head to the toilet before you leave the house.

Manor Farm Fruits, we had a fantastic time and have already washed our strawberries and started munching them – they’re delicious.

Our girls gave it a huge thumbs up!

A huge thumbs up from SmallHouseBigTrips

Any questions, please do ask.
