The rain didn’t put me and the girls off yet another National Trust adventure. We decided to join this week. At only £10.50 (direct debit per month) for two adults and up to 10 kids, it seemed the perfect choice for family days out and mummy and daughter days. So we headed over to try out Wightwick Manor and Gardens in Wolverhampton.
We had a good look around the house. The girls loved finding the chairs that had cat cushions on (which meant they could be sat on). It became a bit of a game for them. They also loved using the i-spy sheet to find different pictures in different rooms – such a fab touch to keep children interested as they go around the house.
As an adult, I found the house incredibly interesting. As a huge fan of arts and craft, I was a little bit in heaven. This is the National Trust property that allows you to see great works of William Morris – in the wallpaper and fabrics. You also get to see a great range of Pre-Raphaelite works of art too. Interestingly (for me) they had a large number of paintings by female artists.
My girls loved the nursery which had lots of old fashioned toys to play with. Jemima had an afternoon tea with her panda and enjoyed building blocks. Matilda tried some of the puzzles on the table.
Outside we enjoyed exploring the grounds, running on the grass and testing out the barefoot walk (which isn’t highlighted on the map but it is right next to the orchard).
We headed to the Arts and Crafts event above the shop and for £1.50 each, they were able to decorate masks which they really enjoyed.
Wightwick Manor has some little cars to ride too, make sure you check out the rules. They made me giggle.
A lovely place to visit with or without children.
Apologies for the messy hairs… The stop/start rain left us looking a little like scarecrows with our fine hair.
