Turtle Bay opens in Brindley Place

Posted on 29/09/2022

A brand new Turtle Bay restaurant opens on 30th September 2022 at 6pm in Brindley Place on Oozells Square and we got to have a sneak peek and can happily confirm that it is delightful.

The location is perfect, opposite Ikon Gallery. You can imagine sipping cocktails in the outside area, overlooking the stunning pink blossom trees in Spring Time.

Inside, it is bright, eye catching, well presented and spacious. This is a place you can go to for food but equally you could pop in and just enjoy some after work drinks (with a board game – they have a few – if that’s your thing).

They do a 2-4-1 drinks offering throughout the day (stopping at 7pm and then 9:30pm onwards). With a great choice of cocktails/ mocktails.

Food was superb and well priced. I don’t think I saw any main on the menu priced above £15.

We went for the;

✔️ Crispy Chilli Squid (£7) which was so good. Strips of squid marinated in mildly spiced coconut milk, crumbed and crisped with mango mole and mild jerk mayo. It was flavoursome, delicious and had a good crunch to it.

✔️ Jerk Pit Wings (£7) a mound of 7 skinny chargrilled, jerk wings with a side of coleslaw. The dressing was flavoursome. Perfect for those who want a jerk taste but do not want a mouth on fire.

✔️ Baby Back Ribs (£14.50) Slow roasted and falling off the bone, these ribs were flame grilled and covered in a sticky mango bbq sauce, served with a side of juicy grilled pineapple. We went for the spiced fries that had a great crunch and flavour to.

✔️ Trini Curry Chicken (£12.50) was my main choice and oh my, if you go, this is the dish you need to choose. There’s no searching for the marinated chicken thighs here, there’s loads of it. The curry has a sweet mango, coconut, thyme and chilli sauce taste and it was epic. Served in the bowl with tasty coconut rice & peas (kidney beans). I could talk about this dish all day. So good.

We absolutely loved our meal and the fabulous service (shout out to our waiter, Brandon) and we would visit again without hesitation. It is nice to find somewhere to eat that ticks all the boxes. Turtle Bay sure does.
