⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exhilarating! What a show!
The Bodyguard is at The Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham until 30th December 2023, and if you’re a fan of Whitney Houstons classic songs, you will not want to miss this show. The Bodyguard Musical follows the gripping tale of singer Rachel Marron, whose life is in danger from a stalker. Will bodyguard, Frank Farmer, be able to protect her?
Expect:
⭐️ Musical brilliance
⭐️ Superb staging
⭐️ Epic choreography
⭐️ Goosebump moments
⭐️ To jump at least once
⭐️ You’ll giggle
And you will most definitely go home singing the songs, including How Will I Know, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and So Emotional.
It was a well-deserved standing ovation last night, not just for the leading characters Emily Williams (playing Rachel Marron) and Ayden Callaghan (Playing Frank) but for all of the cast who were absolutely tremendous! And the most superb set of creative who have developed a masterpiece.
A special shout out to Emily-Mae Walker in the role of Nicki Marron who had a sensational voice and Kalisha Johnson, a backing dancer who had such stage presence, that I’d often find myself watching her whilst wishing that I had even a quarter of the energy Kalisha has on the stage!
Ayden Callaghan depicts the role of Frank Farmer, the bodyguard of Rachel Marron with a blend of strength, stoicism and charm. I think a number of the audience were probably reconsidering their home security systems and wondering if they could get their own Frank Farmer. Ayden might be a familiar face for those of you who are avid Hollyoaks fans, as he played Joe Roscoe. Ayden is passionate about giving young people opportunities in the Arts and co-owns Curious Theatre School with his wife, Sarah-Jane Honeywell.
Emily Williams is a multi-platinum recording artist, celebrated as ‘Queen of the High C’s’, a truly perfect choice for the role of Rachel Marron singing the hits of Whitney Houston. Goosebump moments came for me early in the first half with her rendition of ‘Greatest Love of All’ and by the end of the show, hearing her sing ‘Where do broken hearts go’, I was gutted that the show was coming to an end.
If you’ve never seen the show before, or even if you have, it is well worth booking for your Christmas show! It has everything that you could wish for in a show; romance, drama, comedy, and a soundtrack that will be in your head for days to come. It is by far, a five star glittery Christmas winner!
