Yesterday we went to The Mac to watch ‘I am Me. We Are Kindred’ by @spectraartscompany. Review can be found here.
Whilst in the building for the show we decided to admire what was inside the Arts Centre.
If you haven’t been before, it’s a great building. Very visually attractive for a modern building and is easily accessible for pushchairs.
We visited the ticket office first to collect our show tickets and were happily greeted by a member of staff who made us feel incredibly welcome. The girls looked around the shop that the ticket desk is in, whilst I collected them and we then headed over to the Cafe at the Mac to get some lunch.
The girls had sausage, chips, garlic bread and veg for £3.95 which we thought was very reasonable considering the portion size. Me and my husband had a bowl of chips to share.
The cafe is large with an array of tea pig flavours to choose from, a nice variety of cakes (we got some takeaway cakes later in the day and had them on our picnic in Cannon Hill Park after the theatre show – Check out our review on Cannon Hill Park here.) and a good selection of children and adult lunch options. There were lots of high chairs to choose from and the adult chairs were pretty child friendly with arms on them, so much so that we bypassed the highchair for Jemima and had her sit on an adult chair.
After lunch we headed over to one of the exhibitions displayed in the Mac (Miss Black and Beautiful). Matilda really enjoyed looking at these photographs by the late Raphael Albert with me and asking questions.
For those who haven’t been, there’s various things to see and do here; an indoor cinema, indoor theatre, outdoor theatre (also used as an outdoor cinema) , exhibition displays, shop, cafe, snack kiosk and Arena Bar.
And it’s right on the doorstep of Cannon Hill Park, so you can do two trips out in one go.
A definite must for a visit.
