“These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence”
What a performance!
It is not very often that I am speechless (much to my husbands disappointment) but tonights performance of The Lovely Bones was fantastic and left me a little lost for words when I returned home. How do I put two hours worth of a brilliant theatrical production into a few sentences to describe the evening?
Gripping from the start (I may have leapt a little off of my chair when the show first started, although I won’t say much more than that as I don’t want to spoil the start). If you haven’t read the book or watched the film before, The Lovely Bones is a heart wrenching story about a 14 year old girl who is raped and brutally murdered in Pennsylvania, who then lives in her fantasy world version of heaven. A play that evokes a multitude of feelings, from fear, loss, sadness and even laughter in parts.
With a fantastic musical score including hits such as David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Talking Heads and Stylistics accompanying some outstanding acting, you really won’t want to miss out on seeing this show.
On at Birmingham Repertory Theatre until 10th November 2018, tickets from £10. Book Your Tickets Here.
Do bring some tissues! There were a few tears in tonights audience.
