The Baby Show, Birmingham NEC

Posted on 19/05/201806/07/2018

Dates: Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May.

Times: 9:30am-5pm

On Friday 18th May, myself and my friend Jenna, headed along to The Baby Show (with our little ones in tow) to see what goodies we could get and what new products were hitting the market.

Our first stop was with Stature PR who welcomed us to the show and gave us time to look over the press releases and have a look at items from the show.

They then walked us over to the Bloggers Breakfast which was being held by Natural Birthing Company. We enjoyed hearing about the products by the company, whilst eating a vegan spread of cakes and breakfast items with various juices.

A perfect start to a day of exploring. Thank you!

Natural Birthing Company Stand C64

An award winning range of products designed to help you through all of the stages of pregnancy and through the early days of motherhood, and beyond. Through the experience and expertise of midwives, aromatherapists and formulating chemists, they have ensured that the complete range of products is safe for both mother and baby.

During our Bloggers Breakfast, Jane explained how each item of the range worked and allowed us chance to test them. I refrained from trying Down Below – the Perineal Massage Oil, as I thought it might be rude at the table, but the other items smelt and felt really nice on my arm and hands.

Some of the main items included;

  • Bump Envy: Stretch Mark Oil – This is one I would like to try at home. Not just useful for stretch marks but also for scar tissue too, so you don’t need to currently be pregnant. The idea is it hydrates your skin, moisturising it and repairing any damage – and also preventing any damage too. A natural blend of plant oils and butters with a fragrance free blend helps delicate noses and sensitive skin.
  • Bottoms Up: Soothing bottom spray – yep, that’s right, a spray for your bum. Great for stitches, tears and grazes. I had a second degree tear with Matilda and ouch, that hurt. The idea of a spray to help the bruising, soreness and swelling, sounds like a fantastic idea to me. The Witch Hazel, Cucumber, Lavender and Arnica offer anti bacterial, antiseptic and anti inflammatory support, promoting healing and stimulates the formation of granular tissue, promoting skin renewal.
  • Best Washes: Uplifting Body Wash for Delicate Noses – I wish I had a bottle of this when I was suffering with severe morning sickness. The delicate aroma of spearmint is sure to calm delicate tummies. The wash smells lovely and fresh with black pepper and aloe vera joining the ingredient of spearmint within this wash. Use it in the shower, lather up and have a massage with it or alternatively pour a bit into your bath in the running water.
  • Relax and Breathe: Calming Massage Oil – This was my favourite of the range. A gorgeous light aroma of cocoa butter and shea butter and its highly moisturising properties, this left my skin soft and silky and feeling hydrated.
  • Bosom Buddies: Breastfeeding Oils – mix with water and place onto a flannel or cloth to ease the discomfort and swelling of full tender breasts. They even have lavender in which is known to have an antiseptic properties in, perfect for pain relief.
  • Cool it Mama: Cooling Body spritz – an item not just for pregnant ladies. Are you hot, need cooling down? Going through the menopause or do you have fibro myalgia? Then this spray with ylang ylang, grapefruit, menthol, bergamot and neroli is the one for you. It is designed to calm, relax, uplift, refresh and cool. You could even put it in your hospital bag for when you are in labour.

I also liked the idea of the gift set for £20, Great for baby showers or new mum gift sets.

Whilst me and Jenna listened to Jane, the girls sat on the chairs in the feeding area, testing them out. It’s a great section to head to, if you’re currently breastfeeding or bottle feeding.

After leaving Jane, her colleagues and the rest of the bloggers, we headed off to enjoy the rest of the show.

Here are some of my stand highlights that I recommend you visit. My post would be huge if I mentioned everyone, so don’t be disheartened if your stall isn’t mentioned. I was impressed with all of them (minus the cats protection one, which confused me a bit at a baby show, but still, cats can be peoples babies too).

Nom Nom Kids Stand F72

We met Suzanne on this stand, who was lovely and happy to talk us through her products. Reusable food pouches and snack bags that are BPA free, Freezer Safe and Dishwasher Safe. Great for weaning babies and kids on the go. Suzanne mentioned filling them with jelly, which I thought was a genius idea. My carpet would definitely be happier with the use of these.

Peg Perego UK Stand E20

The people on this stand deserve medals. The stand included a picketed fenced enclosed area where children could experience riding World Class battery ride on cars/trains. Jemima jumped on a car (typically the biggest one they had) and got a little (OK, a lot) carried away, nearly running into the camera man. If you want to see that video, log onto Instagram @smallhousebigtrips where you will find the post.

This stand is great when you have little ones with you, as its a chance for them to have a bit of fun too. The brand sell award winning pushchairs, highchairs, car seats and ride on toys and are known to be Italys most stylish nursery brand.

Aldi Mamia Stand H10

Need to change your little one whilst out and about? Pop to the Aldi stand where they are giving out free nappies and wipes and have a change area to ensure clean bums. There’s a cafe too and Aldi have supplied all of the kids food to try. Even providing spoons too. You don’t need to bring much to this baby show as lots is provided for free.

Lidl Stand E80

Lidl are giving away free goodie bags and showcasing the new organic baby food range. Starting from 50p it is definitely worth a nosey and a chance to stock up.

Joie Stand E50

The Joie stand was full of fantastic looking prams again and as an avid Joie fan (our pram is from the Baby Show two years ago) I really want to highlight this is a great stand to purchase your new pram from. My top tip is to come along on the last day, we saved over £200 on ours by purchasing the show demonstration pram which was in amazing condition, still looking brand new.

More recently a car drove over the wheel of the pram when we were pulling it out of the car and it flew into the road (our car is small so we take the wheels off to place it into the boot). I thought two years after purchasing it, we may be in trouble, but I contacted the customer service team who were happy to send out brand new tyres for the pram, free of charge, no questions asked. Fantastic service and leaves me wanting to sing their praises from the rooftops.

Made For Mums Stand F10

Make sure you stop off at this stand to purchase a goodie bag.

Campbell Books Stand D90

Specialist maker of books for children ages 0-5 years old, this stand was a complete hit with both our girls and us too. I purchased some Busy Books (make sure you stop by to check these out) and I got Matilda some of her favourite authors books, Julia Donaldson. The books in the centre of this stand were 3 for £10 which I thought was a great bargain.

Bambalino Stand C30

If you’re due your baby soon, this is the stand that you don’t want to miss. They are launching a new baby sling. 4 different slogans to choose from;

  • Love me to snuggle
  • Baby on board
  • Hug me now
  • You make me smile

Baby Show special offer of £30 off the selling price. For the show time only, it is £29.99 instead of £59.99. Or you could personalise it from scratch and then it’s £39.99 instead of £69.99.

95% cotton, 5% spandex and lightweight.

The Milky Tea Company Stand C53

Trendy t-shirt with hidden zips down either side to allow easy access for breastfeeding, expressing or tandem feeding. Designed by Lauren Hampshire, a mum of two. 100% combed cotton with some very funky designs.

Rainbow Designs Stand C28

Jemima loved this stall and wanted most of the items on it. So parents with little ones beware. A positive is that the prices are nice and reasonable. I got the girls a Miffy each (£6) and a mini Peppa Pig £4 (RRP £8.99).

You really need to stop at this stand as they have a competition to win a trip to the Miffy Museum in the Netherlands and a chance to win a large Miffy lamp.

They have a lot of Beatrix Potter toys too… Is that enough to tempt you?

The Pud Store Stand C40

Yes, this is the lady from the 12th series of The Apprentice. Ha! So if you are a big Apprentice fan, it’s worth popping over to say hello. But also do look at the stand. Frances is selling some fantastic clothes for little ones and they are such good quality.

I’m really hoping to get Jemima some over the next couple of weeks.

My Little Duckling Stand C23

I loved these baby sleepsuits and couldn’t resist sharing them with you. Please buy some and put your little ones in them. They are so adorable.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink here and for the first day, it didn’t feel too busy.

Please do take pictures if you head off to the baby show, and tag me in them. I’d love to see the posts.

Hey, if you liked this review or maybe were inspired to try this out because of my post, you can always buy me or the kids a drink or a slice of cake on our next big trip! Just hit the button below, if you want to. 🙂
