Sutton Coldfield Town Centre Food Festival

Posted on 09/06/201806/07/2018

Dates: 9th and 10th June 2018

Time: 10am – 4pm

This weekend sees the very first Royal Town of Sutton Coldfields Food Festival. Hopefully the first of many to come and after attending today, I’m pretty sure it will soon become an annual tradition run by Cocker Hoop Creative and Sutton Coldfield Bid, as it seemed very popular.

There were well over fifty stalls, showcasing a variety of delicious food and drink with some stands selling gifts and none food items too.

As I write this I am currently bursting out of my dress and leggings (typical mum wear, yeah?) after indulging in a little too much of the scrumptious food.

So, what did we eat? The girls both shared a pork bratwurst German sausage between them (£4.50) and me and my husband both had a Yorkshire pudding (porky yorky) filled with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce, gravy and crackling (£5 each), which really filled the spot. The girls both helped themselves to mine too. Also giving it a thumbs up.

It was such a hard choice though as there were so many great stands to choose from. I was really tempted by @TheEnglishIndian1 who was selling Indian fried chicken and chips and Indian fish and chips. He was incredibly popular and had a queue of people salivating waiting for their food (I might be exaggerating with the salivating, but they should be, it smelt and looked amazing). There were a couple of Thai stands who nearly got me ordering, along with the jerk chicken stand which had the biggest queue of the festival. The stand that was the most visually appealing has to be The Tasty Pig, but due to his location he seemed quieter than the other stands. He was serving traditional hog roast baps.

Other great main course stands included @dogdamgood and @thepattyfreaks along with various others (too many to remember all the names and write them up).

For every five or so food stands, there was a drinks stand and you could easily drink your way down the high street if you really wanted to. @tippleyourfancy_ seemed popular along with @theproseccobox who had some very tempting gins on a shelf including Boe Prosecco Infusions; Scottish Bramble, Peach and Hibiscus and Violet Gin. @Butlersbars had a number of gins from their mobile bar too. Spit roasted pineapple gin anyone? @britishbusbar had the old vintage red bus giving people a place to sit down and have a drink on board the bus and a brand new business @adropofwhatyoufancyltd had a bit of everything, fizz, cocktails and beer. Or if you fancied just having a cocktail, the mobile cocktail bar @liquorandlime were on hand to cater for your cocktail need.

You probably do not need to guess (especially if you had been watching my Instagram stories) but my favourite stands were the sugary, unhealthy, delicious looking stands such as;

@themarshmallowkitchenuk who had the most beautiful, handmade marshmallows and chocolate mallow treats (Rocky Road bars). We couldn’t resist and got a box of six for £6. With a variety of flavours including candyfloss, biscotti, lemon and blueberry and some over delicious taste sensations (I don’t want to spoil all the flavours before you get to the stand).

@chock_shopuk also had me drooling at the stand, but we didn’t buy any after having indulged in the marshmallows. Choc shop were selling the most delicious looking brownies. Just look at this picture of them.

There were loads of great stands and it is definitely worth a trip in to the town centre tomorrow. Maybe someone can find out the name of this stand as I missed it and the cakes looked…. Yummy.

The girls even got to have a go on the fair ride in the town centre.

So, if you’re not sure what to do tomorrow, why don’t you pop along into the town centre?

And if you’re planning any house gatherings or get togethers in the garden this summer, I recommend popping to the @odonnellmoonshineuk stand, the gentleman there is selling some of the nicest moonshine I have ever tasted.
