Saturdays to me, are best spent with the family in front of some awful Saturday night TV eating a takeaway. And that’s exactly what we did this weekend.
A new app has arrived and as it has started in Birmingham, we decided we were going to be giving it a try for our takeaway meal. I downloaded the Supermeal app on Android (a free app) and typed in our postcode to see what local restaurants we could choose from. After about ten minutes of browsing through the various restaurants, we knew we fancied pizza and chose Caspians (our closest one being in B6). I haven’t had a Caspians takeaway since my clubbing days, when it would be my go-to-pizza to soak up some alcohol before heading into my bed (I’m surely not the only person who used to do this? Those were the days when Saturday nights were for dancing). I was excited to see if Caspians was as nice as I remembered.
I ordered the food and was told on the app that my order would be ready for me within 45 minutes. A message also popped up to say that the restaurant would call me to confirm my order. Which within a minute, my mobile phone was ringing. I answered and a gentleman said “Did you order a takeaway?” I responded “yes, a Caspians” and he said “just checking. Thanks” and that was that. As you pay through the app when ordering, I was a little confused why I needed a phone call too. If I wanted to talk on the phone, I would probably just call my order in.
BUT…
This isn’t just a bog standard takeaway app like Just Eat or Hungry House, this takeaway app works a little like Quidco, where you earn cashback each time you purchase a takeaway AND you can earn extra cashback through people using your referral code for the first time. So, if you want to give the app a try, my referral code is 76251ccb. So a 20 second phone call to double check I had ordered something, was acceptable to me.
The cashback stays in an e-wallet on the app and can be used on future purchases. From my £25 order, I earnt £5 cashback, so it’s definitely worth doing.
Our food was nice and filling. We were feeding the four of us, but we had definitely ordered too much (eyes bigger than bellies). For £25 we had two large pizzas, 7 chicken strippers as a meal deal which came with chips and a can of coke, a cheeseburger and a portion of chips.
We will definitely be using the app again, Jemima really enjoyed her food. She came back for thirds.
There’s quite a few places that do not appear on other apps, which is nice to see.
