We headed over to The Staffordshire Regiment Museum last Saturday afternoon for the Wartime at Christmas exhibition at the museum.
We had never been before so didn’t know what to expect and with the weather pretty much a heavy downpour we weren’t sure we would get much out of the experience.
But how wrong we were.
It was fantastic.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of knowledge and abilities to re-enact scenes from the past.
There was something for all of us, from Jemima who is 2, to hubby who is 36. We had so much fun.
The girls loved seeing Father Christmas who handed out sweets whilst guiding us to the entrance.
They loved dancing with a lady called Skivvy to some old fashioned music. A personal old favourite of mine that I can remember my own mum singing when I was little.
Matilda really enjoyed dressing up in the dress up section (although the outfits were a bit big for our tiny Matilda).
They also loved exploring down the trenches.
My husbands favourite part was the battle re-enactment of the war between England and Germany set within the trench.
And I loved the old fashioned sing along with the Sargent Major. Which we all joined in singing along to.
This museum is fantastic.
There are lots of really interesting displays with memorabilia and items from the Regiments history, from its founding all the way to its actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. We didn’t get to read and look at all of them as we ran out of time, so I definitely recommend when the museum have an event on, that you allow a good 3-4 hours here.
If you get chance to go, come rain or shine, there’s lots for you to enjoy here.
Take a look at the website here: http://www.staffordshireregimentmuseum.com/
Theres loads more information on the website about what you can find in the museum and dates for the future events that you will want to put into your calendars now.
Disclaimer : We were kindly invited along to the museum in return for an honest review. We really liked the place and plan to go back again in the summer with a picnic.
