Restaurant Review:Six by Nico

Posted on 19/01/2024

Have you heard of Six by Nico?

It’s a brand new restaurant in Birmingham offering a culinary adventure for a really decent price. I tried it for the very first time tonight and I have to admit, I’ve fallen in love and came home to tell my husband that I’ll have to take him in the future to try the next menu.

This restaurant is unique because it has a set six-course tasting menu (dietary requirements met) and it changes every 6 weeks. A real reason to want to keep coming back, to see what tastes you’ll experience next.

The current menu is Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and you can enjoy this menu until 25th February 2024 when it will change once again.

I opted for the vegetarian option, but there’s the main option with meat for those who would prefer that. There’s a whole story that goes along with the meal, all related to Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.

I loved every single course. The flavours, the textures, and the presentation. It felt really special and it tasted great. If you booked this for a partner for a birthday or just because, they’ll be really impressed and think you’ve spent a whole lot more than you will.

This is what the menu consisted of for me this evening.

Course 1: Mad Hatters Tea Party

Mushroom Tea, Pickled Walnut Jam, Truffle Pecorino Royale, Savory Cheese Scone

Course 2: Follow The White Rabbit

Roasted Carrot, Tarragon Pesto, Carrot Ketchup, Goats Cheese Mousse, Pumpkin Seed Dressing, Chervil

Course 3: Paint The Roses Red

Celeriac Rose, Baby Beetroot, Garden Radish, Kalamata Olive Soil, Red Apple Caramel

Course 4: Eat Me, Drink Me!

Roast Aubergine, Miso & Yuzu Glaze, Leek Emulsion, White Turnip Puree, Pickled Tokyo Turnip, Turnip Broth

Course 5: Curiouser And Curiouser

Charred Hispi Cabbage, Soy Glaze, Cauliflower, Choucroute, Apple Gel & Mustard Charcuterie Cream

Course 6: Queen Of Hearts

White Chocolate Mousse, Red Velvet Cake, Raspberries, Pecan Brittle

Each course was absolutely incredible.

Also, a quirky little tip… you can eat the menu this time too. It’s printed on edible paper.

Book here for an evening to remember. Epic food, super staff and an exquisite interior.
