Fine dining at its best.
Last night, my friend and I had the pleasure of experiencing Sel & Beurre’s spring tasting menu event, held at Main St. Café in Whittington, Lichfield, and to say we were blown away is an understatement.
Founded by Will Hodson and Josh Beaumont in 2019, their mission is to provide guests with an unforgettable dining experience, and they definitely did that last night with a five-course tasting menu at £55 per head.
From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcomed by the fabulous and friendly staff in the cosy location of Main St. Café. .
The event started at 7pm sharp, where we ordered drinks and got excited about what was to come with our 5-course menu.
Course 1: Snacks
Tantalising bites to whet our appetites and set the tone for the evening. The chicken bites were a real highlight. Quite frankly, I wish I could make them at home.
Course 2: Focaccia, Cods Roe, Sea Herbs
A delightful collection of flavours and textures, perfectly complemented by the freshness of the sea herbs. The focaccia was baked perfectly. Moist with a tender crumb. Yum!
Course 3: Charred Courgette, Goats Cheese, Endive Salad
A refreshing and vibrant choice, thoroughly enjoyed. I’d forgotten how much I love courgette.
Course 4: Corn Fed Chicken, Lichfield Asparagus, Garlic
A succulent and satisfying main course, highlighting the tender chicken and the delicate sweetness of Lichfield asparagus and oh my, the garlic puree mash. No words. Absolutely delicious.
Course 5: Chocolate Coffee Sponge, XV Oil
A decadent finale that showcased the perfect balance of rich chocolate and aromatic coffee flavours.
Sel & Beurre’s innovative approach to modern, seasonal cuisine truly shines through in every dish. Their pop-up concept adds an element of excitement and adventure to dining, while their availability for event catering and private dining ensures that the experience can be enjoyed in any setting.
They have some fabulous events lined up next month, including Roast Dinner at Main St. Café on 12th May and another sensational tasting menu at The Hub at St Marys on 24th May.
