We headed over to Sarehole Mill today, a place that we to hadn’t been to for a while. Sarehole Mill is managed by Birmingham Museums and is a 250 year old watermill famous for its association with author J.R.R Tolkien.
It is free to visit the grounds (inside tours are ticketed online on certain days – check the website) but today we only did the outside including the Woodland Realm which is a small area of forest next to the Mill Pond where magic and nature combine to create wonder round every corner!ย
We explored the enchanting creations by a local sculptor. My personal favourite being the squirrel. The girls loved the mini wooden fairy house and did they spot a crocodile?
The girls favourite section was the balance beams and the Wall of Sound. Where they definitely created a loud sound.
We enjoyed some of the homemade pizzas in the courtyard, sat inside one of the Pizza Pods. They’re open 12pm until 3pm for the rest of the week (until Sunday) and are well worth popping in for one.
I chose the Mediterranean pizza whilst my husband chose a Pepperoni pizza. My girls are not pizza fans so went for ice creams (and lunch when we got home).
We had a lovely time and even managed to find the stepping stones.
Don’t forget to check out the Sarehole Community shop too. It has lots of great treats for children and adults alike.
