Sandwell Valley was the place that we decided to start our year of adventures, yesterday.
We put on our thickest coats (but forgot our hats, scarves and gloves) and headed in to explore the play area via the rope bridge.
Sandwell Valley also has a farm (cheaply priced) and a great space for walks and exploring, there are fields with sheep in and various wildlife throughout the valley, but for our visit we were playground focused in the two main playground areas (there are lots more areas to explore).
The adventure play area in the central part of Sandwell Valley (by the car parks) is made mostly from wood and is a lovely large space with something for all ages to play on.
Climbing pyramids, slides, swings, wooden wendy house, roundabout, bouncing boards, wooden tractors, musical instruments, a sand pit and plenty more.
Over in the next play area (across the road leading into the valley, yet only a 90 second walk) is Dartmouth Park play area. This also has a water play splash area, but unsurprisingly it is closed off during winter.
This park is mostly made from metal, plastics and ropes. Again, lots of different things for all ages. The long slide on the embankment is a little bit fast for young ones, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a child under 3. It twists and bends and there were a few kids jumping off shouting “ouch”, even a girl that looked about 8. So I didn’t let mine on it.
The girls loved the rope section and it was great to see them both build up confidence on there, climbing up and across the various sections.
We had a lovely time and it was practically a free day out.
Put it on your list of places to visit in 2019.
