We decided to spend the last day of 2018 eating, before the usual New Years diets start (that usually last a fortnight). And with thanks to Buckt we were able to do this with our Buckt monthly subscription.
I’ve mentioned Buckt lots before, but if you’ve missed it, there’s more information here https://smallhousebigtrips.co.uk/a-month-of-buckt/, it’s a monthly subscription (we have a duo pack which gets you 5 activities every month for £25 or £12.50 for your first month if you use code SMALLHOUSEBIGTRIPS). The 5 activities are delivered to you in a booklet/box at the start of the month and you get two months to complete them. Last month we had afternoon tea for two at Pirlo’s Dessert Lounge as one of our five activities.
This month (January) there’s a number of exciting activities including Axe Throwing, a dance class with the brilliant Oneday Theatre company, some alcohol tasting and two other fantastic activities. It is definitely worth giving a try. It saves you LOADS of money whilst also giving you opportunities that you might not have had before.
So, back to Pirlo’s. We loved the interiors, the brickwork, copper and layout.
The dessert menu was varied and all of the options sounded delicious. This is the kind of place that you could come to on a date, as a family or as a large group of friends. It is versatile and accommodating.
The afternoon tea that we had was fresh and tasty. We shared ours with our two girls (can you see them in the picture, practically salivating at it?) who loved all the cakes and the scones, leaving me and hubby eating the sandwiches. I also managed to have the carrot cake pieces as no one but me likes carrot cake. It was delicious.
We got two drinks each with the afternoon tea. You could choose from any of the hot drinks (bakewell tart tea anyone?) or some none alcoholic grape fizz.
The afternoon tea options at Pirlos are as follows;
They also do Meerkat Meals, so you can do 2-4-1 on desserts but you have to book in advance.
A great place to visit whilst in Birmingham City Centre and with it being so close to Moor Street Car Park and train station, you could go whilst waiting to catch your train.
