This morning both girls were excited and asking where we were going to go to today. With no plans (I know, it’s a first for me) we asked the girls what they would like to do. Jumping up and down, they both shouted “soft play” at me. Mr Trips asked if i knew of any different ones to try out, so I sat and had a think and remembered seeing that one of my good friends, Amy often went to a place called Palace Play, an inflatable play centre for 0 to 11 year olds. So in the car we jumped and headed off to give Palace Play a try.
The girls loved it. It has an inflatable giant slide, inflatable bouncy castle with a small slide attached and disco lights inside and then another bouncy castle with inflatable obstacles in the middle to bounce around. They also had a section for under 2s which included a play house, mini slide and an area with blocks in and some push along walkers.
The place was clean and tidy and well looked after. And even though it was the school holidays, it wasn’t too busy. The girls often had a bouncy castle to themselves.
I’m one of those parents who has to have the girls within my eye sight. I can’t go to a soft play centre and let them go wild, unless i follow them around and can see them. Here was perfect as the chairs and tables were laid out facing all of the equipment. I didn’t have to be on the equipment to see them. And as the equipment was bouncy, I knew that mostly (on the whole) they were going to be safe.
The girls loved the slides and running around. There were lots of giggles and Jemima even made a little friend who helped her climb up the steep slide.
There’s a little cafe in the place where you can get drinks quite cheaply. A slush puppy is 70p, cans of pop around 59p, pocket money sweets and crisps for kids. They had lunch boxes with sandwiches in and other bits and pieces for £2. Jugs of squash for £1, cups of squash 20p, hot drinks £1.20. It really was nice to attend somewhere, where all of the prices were reasonable.
The centre also has a charity shop with clothes, toys and books as part of the Bloxwich Community Partnership. And it was nice to feel a sense of community within the building. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
I bumped into my friend Amy whilst there, so that was an added extra as I got to spend some time with her and her beautiful little ones, Peggie and Vinnie.
