Never-ending fun at Peter Pan

Posted on 09/12/2023

Peter Pan is The Old Rep Theatres’ choice for the 2023 Christmas performance, and it is a winner.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Never-ending fun for all of the family.

Directed by Alec Fellows-Bennett (one of our personal favourite directors). This year’s production sees a great selection of professionals (6 in total) mixed with a selection of very talented BOA Stage and Screen students, and what a show! The girls both eagerly gave it 5 stars each!

There’s some excellent flying, a crocodile, pirates, and a fairy. What more could you want from a production?

Our stand-out performances came from Matthew Christmas as Hook and Mr Darling, Thea Jo-Wolfe as Peter Pan and Daniel Gaulder as Michael Darling who were all exceptional within their roles.

The stage design, although simple, was perfectly executed, and the switch between scenes cleverly used light and effects to move us between Neverland and the Darlings house.

The puppetry was definitely a winning touch for us. The dog Nana showed a lot of personality and character and had much of the audience giggling away. Look out for the crocodile too! I don’t want to say much more than that, in case I spoil the excitement.

Along with some catchy tunes and absolutely amazing vocals (I’m looking at you, Rhian Lynch, who plays Wendy and Penny Ashmore who plays Starkey and Mrs Darling) we had some epic choreography and dancing, too. Keisha Riley (Tiger Lily/Shadow) really lit up the stage with the first dance, and I couldn’t help but smile watching the twins (Stacey and Tracey William).

There’s a lot of talent on this stage, and I can see many of the BOA students having fruitful careers.

Peter Pan is available to watch until New Year’s Eve. What a perfect end to 2023.
