“An edge of your seat, thriller” ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Murder in the Dark has arrived at The Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, where it will stay until Saturday, 11th November. If you’re a person who loves a thrilling and suspenseful show, then this one is a must that will keep you engaged from start to finish. Clever plot twists coupled with a talented cast bring the suspense to life. And even for me, who likes to think of myself as an Angela Lansbury, this production successfully kept me guessing, right up until the very end.
Without revealing too much of the storyline (there’s nothing worse than a spoiler), Murder in the Dark follows Danny (Tom Chambers) as the main character in a cleverly written play (thank you Torben Betts) that keeps the audience on their toes.
The standout aspect of this production is its talented cast and their ability to skillfully portray their character’s complexities. They all worked so well together. It was a pleasure to watch. Tom Chambers (as Danny) and Susie Blake (as Mrs Bateman) were absolutely outstanding!
The set design was great with seamless transitions, and we absolutely loved the sound effects (great work, Max Pappenheim).
The production skillfully uses lighting and sound effects to enhance the chilling atmosphere, building tension and excitement. There also seemed to be a chill in the air, was that intentional too? I think so.
It’s hard to write a review about a thriller without giving too much away, so I’m just going to end this review by telling you to book tickets to this superb spine-chiller, with plot twists aplenty. You won’t regret it!
