Mum and Dad’s need time too…

Posted on 13/10/201813/10/2018

And thankfully, the introduction of Buckt this year by Daniel Bridgewater has helped me and my husband have some quality dates together. All for a fantastic £25 a month (£12.50 for your first month if you use code: SMALLHOUSEBIGTRIPS when ordering).

So, what have we done? Each month you get five different activities to do. And they have all been very different. Some we haven’t been able to fit in, but that’s the beauty of this subscription pack, it is such fantastic value for money that you pretty much get your moneys worth after completing one or two of the activities.

I’m going to run through our top eight of the stand out trips that we have currently been on. Just to give you a little bit of a taster of what to expect in your subscription.

A meal at Bank, Brindley Place

Me and my lovely husband enjoyed a £40 meal at Bank. The food was delicious, the scenery great and the service friendly. What a great deal for our first box which with code SMALLHOUSEBIGTRIPS is only £12.50. And you still get 4 other trips out for that price.

Full Throttle Raceway

This has to be one of my favourite trips so far. Me and hubby got to race each other around the track in go-karts. This course even had an upstairs which was fun to go up and down. Hubby beat me (by quite a few laps) but that didn’t matter, it was still so much fun.

Rage Room

Had a bad week at work? Then Rage Room is for you. You get to put on Protective Gear, grab a baseball bat and smash a number of keyboards, computer monitors and glass bottles. Release any stress that you might have inside.

My favourite bit was watching my husband hit the keyboard and watching the keys fly everywhere. You HAVE to try this.

Mockingbird Cinema

We went to watch Avengers Infinity War, which at the time was a relatively new film out at all of the cinemas. We hadn’t been to the Mockingbird Cinema before so it made a nice change. It was a cosy auditorium where you were able to sit and drink alcohol whilst enjoying the film.

Stratford Butterfly Farm

We loved this one as we combined it into a family day out. Stratford Butterfly Farm was about a 35 minute drive from our house and is a straight forward train journey from Birmingham Moor Street Station.

Although the Butterfly Farm is not huge, it’s beautiful inside and full of so many varieties of butterflies. The girls loved looking at them all and also checking out the various none butterfly aspects of the trip. You have to check out the ant room – the girls were fascinated.

Kadampa Meditation Centre

We did this on a lunch break midweek and I have been dying to go back since.

30 minutes of complete meditation. Immersed in the moment. I’ve never come out feeling so relaxed before. I’ve always been a huge promoter of massage for relaxation but now I’d leap at a meditation session at Kadampa Meditation Centre over any massage.

Inflatable Zone

How best to spend a weekend evening than with one of your friends (or husband) bouncing around a giant indoor inflatable centre. I took my friend Rachel along to Inflatable Zone and we had a whale of a time together. We laughed so much as we raced one another around the inflatable zones. I screamed when going down the drop slide and I may (or may not) have fallen over a few times.

Steelhouse Lane Lock Up

Such a fab trip. You get to walk around and explore the Steelhouse Lane lock up that was used for 125 years before closing in 2016. It had housed some well known villains including Fred West and the original Peaky Blinders.

We took our two girls along with us and we enjoyed a great family trip out together. Dressing up, finger printing, exploring, answering a quiz and lots of fact finding.

We have had a great time with Buckt so far and next week we have two more events to do… An alcoholic shot and 30 minutes of ping pong in new Birmingham City Centre Bar, Serve. And we are doing a scare maze in Walsall. Keep an eye on my instagram stories for more on those.
