Light Cycles: A new light trail

Posted on 15/11/202415/11/2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mesmerising and Magical

A Night to Remember: Our Magical Experience at Light Cycles.

As the sun set over Coventry, we made our way to Somers Pool, filled with anticipation and excitement. Light Cycles, a unique, immersive light trail, had promised a blend of art, nature, and innovation, and I am thankful to report that it delivered in spades.

A tasty hot dog (at the start of the trail)

We started our visit with a hot chocolate, hot dog and a cupcake – all delicious! Whilst sat on the picnic benches at the start of the trail entrance.

The moment we stepped onto the trail, the girls were captivated by the intricate dance of the abundance of lights and sounds that seamlessly blended with the natural landscape.

There’s five art installations in total, all seperated by a lovely lit walk between them. It felt like an adventure.

The cold air adding an extra element of excitement as you see it hit the warmth of the many light bulbs.

Each installation had its own flair, from The Hearth with its warm, welcoming glow to Forest Frequencies, where vibrant lights pulsed in harmony with ambient sounds, making the woods come alive.

Walking through Into the Sunset (the final installation), it was impossible not to feel a zillion emotions. Contentment, peace and a sense of belonging. It’s hard to put into words how this last installation made us feel but all four of us said how we didn’t want to leave. There’s just something really special about it. It’s not often you see me twirl, but I twirled like a child amongst the beams of light.

As a family, we appreciated how Light Cycles catered to both kids and adults. The children were mesmerised by the sensory elements. The lights and sounds. While us grown-ups marvelled at the craftsmanship and thought behind each piece. It isn’t ‘just’ a light trail. It’s an art trail that happens to use light. Each step brought a new surprise, a fresh splash of colour, or an unexpected symphony of sound.

It was like stepping into a dream, where the ordinary world was left behind and replaced with something truly magical. I want to go back and do it again.

While the ticket price might not be the most budget-friendly, if you’re looking for a special night out this winter, Light Cycles is worth every penny. It’s an experience that blends art, nature, and technology in a way that engages every sense. We left feeling enchanted and inspired, with memories that will surely last long after the final light has dimmed.
