Halls Christmas Shop

Posted on 06/11/202006/03/2022

Christmas isn’t cancelled.

That’s right. We all need something to look forward to and for many of us now Halloween and Bonfire night are out of the way, we are looking towards Christmas and all the cosy nights at home in front of the fire, snuggled up with a hot water bottle, staring at our Christmas Trees and decorations.

How thankful was I when I went to our local garden centre for some winter pansies (garden centres have remained open during this pandemic as they are seen to help peoples mental health) and spotted that the garden centres Christmas Shop section was open.

Halls Garden Centre on the Chester Road in Streetly has always been one of my favourite quaint garden centres to visit and I’ve previously reviewed them when I popped along for some cake with my youngest daughter before she started pre-school (oh how I miss our Mummy and daughter days).

The Christmas Shop is absolutely stunning and one of the things that really jumped out at me is that the prices for lots of the items were really really reasonable. Quality looking tree decorations for as little as 99p, meaning that those with even the smallest of budgets, could come away with some goodies.

I spent my time looking around the store smiling, happy, forgetting for a brief moment about what is currently happening in the world. Boris was right, garden centres can lift peoples spirits, Halls Garden Centre was definitely doing this for me. Health and safety restrictions were in place including a one way system in and out, masks to be worn at all times, hand gel, a sign on the front door regarding limited numbers in the shop (although when I entered I was the only person there which was amazing and I felt so very safe).

It was nice to see some different coloured sections. A dusky pink section really tempted me this year. You could really make some nice floral displays in your home with the products available. Even entwine the flowers onto your tree – how beautiful would that look.

We are always traditional in our house with the reds and golds, so it was nice to see sections I could choose from to compliment the theme we usually have. I chose two glittery gold angels to hang on the tree (for £1.19 in total). I could have easily got carried away and purchased more from the gold section.

They had some unusual Christmas tree decorations too, including Heinz tomato ketchup bottles and surf boards.

If you’re looking for Christmas presents, they also have a section of gifts including jams, sweets, chocolates and drinks.

Or maybe you want a new Christmas ornament. They have some lovely looking mini Phone boxes with Christmas ornaments and snow inside that light up. Starting from £17.99 for these. I chose a little lamp with a mini Christmas tree scene in. Will share that on my Instagram stories when my batteries arrive from Amazon.

It really is a beautiful part of the garden centre to visit. Obviously due to the pandemic, please do be sensible. Visit on your own or in a small bubble but do let me know what you think when you’ve visited.
