BRUMMIES can enjoy a feast of entertainment as Foodies Festival returns to one of Birmingham’s favourite visitor attractions this month.

More than 30,000 food-lovers are set to flock to Cannon Hill Park for the UK’s ‘biggest celebration of food, drink and live music’ from June 22-24.

Organisers have promised to make this year’s event the ‘biggest and best’ with a star-studded array of culinary talent to grace the food demonstration stage.

Among them will be the crème de la crème TV chefs including BBC Masterchef 2018 winner Kenny Tutt and My Kitchen Rules host Glynn Purnell, affectionately known as the ‘Yummy Brummie.’

New this year is the Musicians Against Homelessness celebrity music stage and extended opening times to hear bands play into the night.

Hit-makers Toploader who topped charts with Dancing in the Moonlight and The Hoosiers with GoodBye MrA will play live on the Friday night while Britpop stars Dodgy will whisk crowds back to the 90s with Staying Out for the Summer.

Supported by Musicians Against Homelessness, the live music stage will also see talented emerging bands and solo artists perform with tickets raising money for UK-wide homelessness charity Crisis.

Alan McGee, Patron of Musicians Against Homelessness, said: “Foodies Festival is the UK’s largest food and drink festival and with such fantastic summer events it seemed a natural link to partner with a festival that reaches the hearts of so many local communities.

“In turn, we’re confident that they can help us raise awareness and funds for our homelessness charity Crisis by bringing popular headliner bands to their stages alongside some of the country’s best unsigned musical talent.”

An all-star line-up also includes Great British Bake Off Winner 2017 Sophie Faldo and Michelin-starred chefs Brad Carter of Carters of Moseley, Rob Palmer of Peels Restaurants, Louisa Ellis of Two Michelin starred Sat Baines Restaurant and Great British Bake Off finalist 2017 Steven Carter Bailey.

The three-day event offers gastronomic delights galore with more than 30 delicious food stalls and a chance to sample and buy from over 100 of the country’s finest artisan producers.

The Drinks Theatre will welcome expert mixologists and sommeliers to the stage, including Fizz Fanatics and Spanish Sensations Tastings from Matt Dicks of Waitrose, as well as beer connoisseur and writer Melissa Cole, well known for ‘taking the beard out of beer.’

Visitors can whisk up a tasty tipple in Prosecco and Parmesan masterclasses or try their hand at chocolate-making, cake decorating and brewing health-boosting Kombucha tea.

They can indulge in refreshing cocktails at the Tequila Shack, Tikki Rum Bar and Gin Station or let their hair down at cream-pie throwing, cheese stretching and chilli-eating contests.

Fascinating workshops will offer an insight into gut friendly foods and the power of plant-based proteins.

Festival director Sue Hitchen said: “We stage food festivals up and down the country and absolutely love coming to the Midlands.

“Warm-hearted Brummies give us such a wonderful welcome and for Cannon Hill Park, we have laid on our biggest programme of activities to date.”

Younger foodies can have fun in the Kids Cookery Theatre, craft area and play zone with bouncy castle and face painting.

About Foodies Festival: Foodies Festival launched in 2005 as a single event at an Edinburgh hotel after founder Sue Hitchen noticed a gap in the Edinburgh market for a food festival. It is now the largest food and drink festival in the UK. To date, Foodies has welcomed over 3 million visitors and helped launch hundreds of new businesses and supported thousands of small producers. Foodies Festival proudly celebrates local produce in each festival region and showcases the most exciting and talented chefs, bakers and producers in the UK.

About Musicians Against Homelessness:

Musicians Against Homelessness was launched in late 2016 by Emma Rule with the patronage of Creation Records Alan McGee. Around two hundred and fifty MAH gigs and mini festivals featuring around 1000 bands have taken place throughout September and October in 2016 and 2017, raising an impressive total of £100,000. This not for profit volunteer led organisation raises money for the charity Crisis in England , Scotland and Wales, and Simon Community in Northern Ireland.
