We have had the perfect family Sunday at Ego Mediterranean Restaurant in Kenilworth today, and we want to take the time to share with you just how brilliant it was.
Great food, family-friendly, and unbeatable deals. What more could you ask for?
Ego Mediterranean have a number of restaurants around the Midlands so you don’t have to travel far to find one and with such an array of dishes to choose from, there’s plenty for everyone in the family to find a dish they would enjoy.
We chose the a la carte menu featuring dishes from across the Mediterranean, including French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Moroccan food and were impressed with the options; steaks, kebabs, fresh fish and seafood, pizza, pasta and paella.
What did we (adults) eat?
We started off with the Baked Sourdough Boule with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar and netherend butter (v) £4.95

For our mains, I went for the Chargrilled Piri-Piri Chicken 200g hanging kebab, skewered with red onion, courgette & peppers with mixed leaf salad, mint yoghurt & toasted pitta £19.50. It was absolutely delicious. Juicy, flavoursome and filling. I’m greedy, so I added Truffle & Grana Padano fries £4.95 but in hindsight, I didn’t need to, the meal is a really large, enjoyable portion. That said, the fries were delicious and I’d most likely order again on my next visit.

My husband also liked the sound of the hanging kebab, so chose the Mixed Kebab
300g Piri-piri chicken, chorizo, lamb rump
& pork loin £25.50 and chose Sweet potato fries £4.95 to accompany the meal.
For dessert, I ordered the indulgent Raspberry & White Chocolate Eton Mess, which consisted of raspberry sorbet, strawberries, crushed meringue, and Chantilly cream £8.95. And it was divine. SO good!

My husband chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding and asked for it with custard £8.25. Yum!
What did the children eat?
Family-friendly dining is at the heart of Ego Kenilworth. The kids were thrilled with the Children’s Menu, which is packed with tasty options. Ego Mediterranean offer two children’s menus – one aimed at children under the age of 5, and one for slightly older and more adventurous children who want to enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean, my two opted for the older menu.

The girls both wanted the full three courses (£15.95) and chose the Stonebaked Garlic Pizza Bread for their starters.

For mains, Jemima chose the Make Your Own Pizza. Given a chefs hat so she could feel like a proper chef, she was given a stretched out pizza base with tomato sauce & mozzarella and two toppings to make her own pizza. Jemima opted for ham and pineapple. Once she had decorated the pizza, the friendly staff whisked it away to cook before bringing the finished piece back to the table for Jemima to enjoy – and she thoroughly did.

Matilda went for the Breaded Chicken Dippers with new potatoes and salad. These chicken dippers are huge and freshly made and such a decent choice for children. We were really impressed.
For dessert, Jemima chose Sticky Toffee Pudding like her Dad and Matilda went for a Triple Chocolate Brownie with Chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream and although she thoroughly enjoyed the few bites she took, she had been defeated by the fabulous starter and main and couldn’t squeeze it all in.
