Good Morning and happy Saturday.
Yesterday, me and my husband took Jemima to the Sounds Right Phonics Easter Party which was held at St James Church Centre, Mere Green in Sutton Coldfield.
The party cost £8 to attend (£7 plus a £1 surcharge) and was suitable for ages 1-5, although there were two little ones who were under 1 there and they seemed to really enjoy it too.
It was not your standard free play party, but instead a structured lesson to teach children the letter E for Easter, but performed in such a way that the children just thought it was a party.
Jemima learnt all about the letter E whilst also dancing (both with and without pom poms), singing (nursery rhymes suitable for ages 0-5) and running around giggling. All whilst learning how to pronounce and identify words with her other party friends. Egg, eye, engine, envelope, elephant…
Jemima loves bright colours and this session was definitely colourful. A giant parachute, colourful eggs, brightly coloured pom poms, bright coloured Easter cakes, the disco lights during the dough disco (oh yes, even our fingers got to have a party in the playdoh).
Jemima choose herself a drink and a yummy cup cake from the table (I can say this as I was naughty and took one too – oops), she had a cake pop, an Easter nest cake and a goodie bag full of yummy Easter treats. All in with the cost of the party. How great is that?
If you like the sound of this Easter Party, you’re not too late to join in. On Monday another party is being held at the Collingwood Centre in Great Barr, but please do jump onto the Sounds Right Phonics Website (click the North Birmingham classes link) and book a place very soon. I hear the places are nearly all gone.
If you do go, me and Jemima will be there too. I won a competition for a free place on the Facebook group (soundsrightphonics northbirmingham), so Jemima is getting to go to two parties and this time learn about the letter B for bunny. I’m egg-cited. I get to eat another cupcake :-).
