Drop Shot Digbeth is a place that you will be wanting to follow on social media (@dropshotdigbeth). Opening on Friday 12th July for its grand launch weekend with a DJ set on 13th July (just in time for Baljit the owners birthday).
The venue has been owned by the family for 15 years and has previously been used for manufacturing. Finally with inspiration from entrepreneur, managing director and son of Baljit Basra, Sanj Basra (right, lower picture) , Drop Shot Digbeth has been created.
It was media launch night on Friday 5th July and we were kindly invited along by Jake Murphy (General Manager, left in above picture) to experience what Drop Shot has to offer. Baljit gave us a tour of the venue, telling us of future plans including a floating glass stage which will house a DJ.
We did the tour, armed with the best drinks. I had a Whitleys Pink Cherry Gin and Crisp Schweppes Tonic Water with fresh raspberries as a garnish and hubby had a Dead Man’s Fingers Coffee Rum with a Coca Cola Smoky Signature Mixer. Both drinks were so delicious that by the time we left, we had both had 4-5 rounds.
The venue is large and open spaced and it is nice to see the handy work within the industrial unit, bringing in aspects of Baljits manufacturing experience. They have created the industrial looking bar, the barrel tables (which were a personal favourite of mine), the places to place your drinks and even the lighting.
A local graffiti artist has created master pieces on the wall which give the venue the visual wow factor.
So, what is Drop Shot?
It is a new activity bar with plenty of Ping Pong tables that can be booked online or can be used as a walk up customer. Play in pairs, or a table of four.
Drop Shot is serving up authentic Italian Wood Fired Pizza. The oven has travelled 1128 miles to guarantee an authentic Italian taste and having tried the pizza, it hits the spot. Hubby was especially happy that the pepperoni pizza had nduja sausage on it, an authentic spicy Italian ingredient that not many restaurants use.
The venue specialises in good quality drinks that you’ll be heading home talking about and wanting to return to try again.
Who knew there were so many tonic water flavours to go in your gin?
