Monday mornings in our house are usually slow and other than the typical school run, we take a good half a day to find our mojo for the week. We didn’t need to find it this week though, we were given it at our very first Diddi Dance session, leaving us feeling upbeat and ready for the brand new week.
From the moment we entered the room, Natalie and Dawn made us feel welcome and at home. Matilda usually takes time to warm up to people but she was comfortable immediately, making new friends, laughing and dancing with them.
For those who haven’t heard of Diddi Dance before, it is a preschool group aimed at boys and girls aged 18 months to 4 and a half. The classes are full of a variety of funky dances including; jazz, charleston, country, salsa, jive etc.
I’m told that each term is based around a different dance. Next time is going to be country dancing. Me and Matilda enjoyed today’s Easter session that much today, we are back again next week to give the country dancing a try.
The session was energetic and active and parents were encouraged to join in and get involved. There was such a lovely atmosphere in the room and all of the parents were lovely.
There was lots of dancing, freestyle, with ribbons, maracas, they did some galloping in pairs, singing and counting (not only in English but French and Spanish too. How fab is that!!) and so much more. Amazing what could be fitted into a 45 minute session.
I liked that all of the children were having fun, whilst the children were also learning without probably even realising it. Helping to prepare children for when they go to school, it’s definitely a fun and educational session.
Some of the key educational highlights for me were;
💃Teaching them patience and the ability to wait their turn whilst lined up waiting for their prop
💃Teaching them the difference between their left and right hands using coloured maracas
💃Learning team work when picking a partner and galloping together
💃Counting to 10 in 3 different languages.
We had a great time and would highly recommend you trying a session.
Thank you for having us Diddi Dance.
Matilda left a very happy little girl.
