Death Drop

Posted on 24/11/202106/03/2022

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It is a whimsical, eccentric and plain right bizarre comedy that will have even the most serious of people laughing” – Small House Big Trips

What a show! I laughed, I giggled and at points I jumped. I had such a fantastic evening that I can’t stop smiling and thinking about some of the many jokes within the show. References to many things from my childhood that I had forgotten about.

Holly Stars has written a brilliant script (based on the original idea by Christopher D.Clegg). A script that keeps a smile firmly on your face all the way through and had many members of the audience howling with laughter. Someone sat behind me kept laughing so hard that they snorted. It is funny, sexual, deathly and well and truly eccentric. There’s singing, slapstick humour, glittery dresses and the highest heels I’ve ever seen in my life.

So what is the story about? Think murder mystery crossed with a comedy, or as Death Drop has called it themselves, it is a “Dragatha Christie”. It is Charles and Diana’s 10th Wedding Anniversary, the year is 1991 and Lady Von Fistenburg has invited 5 guests to celebrate in her mansion. Ex Pop Star Shazza (William), Conservative MP Rich Whiteman (Richard Energy), Film Maker, Phil Maker (Georgia Frost), A Tabloid editor from The World of The News, Morgan Pierce (Karen From Finance) and Meteorologist Summer Raines (Ra’Jah O’Hara). The catering team, Blue, Brie and Spread (Holly Star) are dealing with pooey toilets, dirty toilet brushes, ham and cheese pancakes and a murderer! One by one the members of the party reach their dramatic (and lets be honest, humorous) endings.

The whole cast were absolutely phenomenal, full of energy and quick witted (even when an audience member sneezed and when one got tongue tied). My favourite was Richard Energy who played Conservative MP Rich Whiteman who had everyone in stitches. Hilarious mannerisms. My sisters favourite was Georgia Frost who played Phil Maker who was incredibly funny and had a real presence on stage. Everyone worked so well together in this performance and I could watch it all over again right now. I don’t want to say too much as the shock and not knowing probably makes it even more funny.
