Yesterday, the beautiful Cotswold Lavender Fields opened their gates to the public and today we decided to head along to see how they were this year.
Now open until 26th July 2020, these fields are so beautiful and well worth the hour drive from Birmingham to see them.
Adults are £4, children aged 5 and above are £2 and under 5’s are FREE. Dogs are welcome to go along too, providing owners keep them on a lead and clean up after them.
For those wondering if you can get your pushchair around the site, yes you can. I took Jemima in the pushchair a few years back and the grass paths along the side of the lavender are okay to push your pram around. But if you have a baby sling, I think this would be the best for walking through the lavender fields and saves you pushing a pram through the grass.
Social distancing was easy to ensure at the lavender fields with them being so large. A one way system to get into the fields is in place, with card payments only. There is also a kiosk on site where you can buy lavender gifts, ice creams, snacks and drinks. Again, a perspex screen ensured your distance from the person serving you and social distancing is observed by fellow visitors as you queue.
The girls and Mr Trips enjoyed an ice cream each and I had a bottle of water and some lavender chocolate – all of them were yummy! There are lots of places to sit down to enjoy your treats; on benches, picnic tables and the grass. You can also bring your own picnics and make a day of coming to the fields.
The fields are absolutely stunning. So many different varieties of lavender, be sure to stop and smell each type. Matildas favourite was the Peter Pan lavender.
You may think the fields would be boring for children, but they’re not. My girls loved running up and down the aisles. Laughing, playing games and racing one another.
We even got chance to take some selfies and family photos.
Well worth a visit and we will be back again next year.
