⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sexy, sassy and seductive. We were truly Razzle Dazzled.
An outstanding cast entertained the audience tonight at The Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham. Despite a tiny technical hitch, the show was enthralling from start to finish.
I am sure you are aware of the story, but in case not, the story is based in Chicago, Illinois in the late 1920s. Roxie Harts lover has threatened to leave her so she murders him. To avoid being sent to prison she hires Chicago’s slickest lawyer.
Chicago is the show that has it all. Singing, dancing, glamour, sass, sex-appeal, an amazing orchestra and a star cast.
The dancing was excellent and the humour was on point. All the cast were brilliant; Djalenga Scott (Velma), Faye Brookes (Roxie) and Sinitta Malone (as matron ‘Mama’ Morton) were stand out and made the whole performance seem so effortless. Darren Day performed superbly keeping the audience entertained as Billy Flynn. Joel Montague as Amos Hart, caught the love of the audience as Roxie’s downtrodden husband. Theo Reece (as doctor) made his professional debut and was outstanding. There were some surprises throughout- just wait for act 2!
We came out of the show with big smiles on our faces. We were truly razzle dazzled!
