Having driven past here many times, I had always wondered what Brewhouse and Kitchen would be like. It was only when walking by last week, that we could smell the food cooking and decided to be led by our noses.
As we entered the building, it was clean, tidy and looked incredibly fresh and open. We were greeted with a code to scan for track and trace and a hand sanitiser station. We were then given menus and could go and choose where to sit.
We walked around the venue first, looking at all of the different seating areas before eventually deciding on the outdoor dining area.
If you haven’t been before, we found the outside area rather wonderful. Spacious, some covered booths, pretty lighting and an outdoor bar which wasn’t open but I imagine is, when there are more customers. If you want a working lunch with your laptop, some of the outdoor booths had plugs for laptops. Perfect for a change in scenery whilst eating a very decent lunch.
Me and my husband sat down and browsed the menu. A variety of dishes took my fancy including the Legend Lager Battered Halloumi and Chips (£11.95) and the Brewer’s Croque Monsieur which came with a draught soft drink or tea/coffee for a bargain £6.50.
However, my husband who loves food just as much as me (and was kindly paying) pointed out the BBQ Platter to Share for £27.95 and of course, I could not resist. It consisted of 1/2 beer can chicken, slow cooked BBQ pulled pork, ‘Beer-B-Cue’ ribs, pork belly burnt ends, with skin on fries, house slaw and corn cobs.
We then browsed the drinks menu which as you can imagine for a Brewhouse, it had a number of brews that had been brewed right there in the pubs microbrewery. You could even order a Triton which consists of a 9 pint beer dispenser at your table. They also had ciders, Gins, Cocktails, Wine, Soft Drinks and Coffees and Teas. I chose an apple juice and my husband had a flavoured cider.
To save people walking to and from the bar, orders are now done over an app which my husband downloaded and ordered on.
We were really impressed when our food arrived to our table. It was immense. Tasty, cooked perfectly and quite a feast for the two of us. I loved the quirky sauce holder (the can on the platter). We really enjoyed our meal. If we could add any alterations, we would like a few more chips on there next time, as it was more a portion of chips for one, but otherwise it was all fantastic. The staff were really friendly too – which added to the great experience.
My husband wants to come back in the future to try the delicious sounding Sunday Roasts. So Brewhouse and Kitchen will be seeing us again soon.
