It is that time of the year again. The Bluebells are starting to appear (a little earlier in 2024) and not only do they make the perfect scenery on a walk, but they make the most beautiful back drop for photographs.
Have a look at some of the best places to visit in the Midlands.
πClent Hills – miles and miles of bluebells. From late April until mid May the Clent Hills are carpeted with bluebells.
You can find bluebells in lots of areas on the hills. One of the best spots is in the valley behind the Four Stones, where the sides of the valley are covered in bluebells, and the woods at the bottom of the valley are also carpeted in them.
πWaseley Hills Country Park – rolling open hills and woodland filled with bluebells.
πCalke Abbey – walk through the Serpentine Wood filled with bluebells
πMerrions Wood – a small nature reserve with verges of bluebells
πNew Hall Hotel – the grounds of this beautiful hotel and wedding venue have a great showing of bluebells
πCoughton Court – The best spot to discover bluebells at Coughton Court is over in Timmβs Grove, which is covered in a sea of shimmering bluebells from late April to mid-May. The gentle walk takes you over the fields to the ancient woodland where the middle of the wood is covered in a thick carpet of sweetly scented bluebells.
πDudmaston – During late spring, Dudmaston’s woodland is transformed into a blanket of blue. For the best displays, follow Captain Geoffrey’s Estate walk, starting from Hampton Loade car park. Pass through the Long Covert. This stretch of woodland is south facing and the warmth from the sun releases the bluebells delicate fragrance. Arrive at Belle Vue, an area of the dingle which is especially deserving of its name during bluebell time.
πMoseley Bog – stunning bluebells in the childhood playground of Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkein
πHartshill Hayes Country Park – With two areas of ancient woodland, you can guarantee a glorious display of Bluebells during the Springtime.
