We headed to 1580 for an early dinner and we had a fabulous time. Located on the Wylde Green/Erdington border at 170 Chester Rd, B23 5TE.
1580 is a restaurant that has 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜. Tasty Indian and Nepalese food, Cocktails, Mocktails, a Vegan Menu and Kids Menu, all served within a lovely interior of wooden tables, beams and lighting, making it a perfect dining experience.
The restaurant is very family friendly and it was great to see high chairs for those with little ones and a Kids menu with colouring and fun things to do.
This is the perfect venue for those with or without children and I can see me and my husband returning in the future minus the little ones to work our way through the cocktail menu.
Today we had from the cocktail menu a 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗯𝘂𝗹 and 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗷𝗶𝘁𝗼 and a 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 Mocktail.
The food was fantastic. We had the 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁 for starters and the 𝗠𝗼:𝗠𝗼: 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 filled with chicken minced filling marinated in Nepalese spices and herbs; steam xooked and served with a special sauce. They were so good! My husband chose the 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗞𝗼 𝗝𝗵𝗼𝗹 which is a slow cooked lamb on the bone in tomato based gravy flavoured with aromatic spices, nutmeg and fresh coriander – a real Nepalese delicacy and I went for the 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮 which tasted a little sweet and really creamy. You could taste some subtle spices that worked really well with the creamy consistency. Delicious! Possibly the best korma I’ve ever tasted.
We decided to try something different and went for the 𝗠𝗼𝗴𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀. If you’re like us and hadn’t heard of these, let alone try them, they are delightful. They have a higher protein than white potatoes and are light in flavour and according to Google they support gut health and blood sugar management. So are healthy too!
The girls chose 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 and a 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮 for their meals. Which at less than £5 each are an absolute bargain!
We loved 1580. If you live nearby, you can also find them on Just Eat.
