RYA Push The Boat Out – Try Sailing and windsurfing for FREE across the West Midlands this May. Until May 31st, over 25 venues around Birmingham and the Black Country, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire are giving you the chance to give it a try.

Circus Fantasia – One of the best Circus Shows that I have ever seen are setting up in Darlaston, George Rose Park, Wolverhampton Street, WS10 8UB from 2nd May to 7th May. Definitely a show you do not want to miss this May.

Woolly Weekend at Forge Mill Farm – 5th, 6th and 7th of May
Pirate Weekend at Cadbury World – from 5th – 7th May, come along and see the pirates. More details on the website.
Kiddiwinks Nearly New Sale – Come along at 1:30pm to 3pm to Collingwood Community Centre where you can pick up lots of lovely bargains from 30 stalls (and two businesses). Everything from smaller items such as books, clothes and toys to larger items like prams, jumperoos and bikes. Every sale has different items, who knows what bargains you will pick up at this one.
The first 50 people through the doors also get a free goody bag. There’s a craft table for the kiddies and an on site cafe selling hot and cold refreshments and all money goes back to the community centre.

Sheep Shearing Saturday at Attwell Farm Park – pop along to this new farm park which has animals, play equipment, indoor sandpit and opportunities to watch sheep shearing between 11:30am and 1:30pm. Bring a picnic or get some refreshments from the cabin cafe.

7th May 2018
Rowheath Family Fair, Craft and Farmers Market – held at The Rowheath Pavilion from 10am – 3pm. It is FREE entry and will see over 40 Craft and farmers stalls, bouncy castles, face painting, sign language story telling, street food, ice cream and lots more.

May Day at Sarehole Mill – Dance around the maypole at this historic attraction with links to JRR Tolkien to celebrate the Bank Holiday. Morris dancing and games. Details here.
Black Country Living Museum May Day Celebrations – May Day themed activities, make your own Green Man Mask or May Crown. Join the horse drawn procession for a chance to be chosen as the Jack of the Green or May Queen. See the traditional dancers and have a lovely family day out. More details on the website.
Middleton Hall Traditional May Day – Last year we went along to this and had a really lovely time. Me and the girls learnt how to May Pole dance and enjoyed a beautiful stroll through the grounds, woodland and the house. Sarah and Duck’s Big Top Birthday at Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham – bring the children along on 14th and 15th May to see a live performance of Sarah and Duck. It’s my favourite children’s show, so I’m unsure who will enjoy it more. Me or the girls. More details including prices, here.

A Royal Tea Party in Mere Green

Mum2Mum Market – a nearly new sale in Sutton Coldfield, held at Mere Green Community Centre from 3pm – 5pm. A chance to pick up some bargains and support a local business. More details including other dates and locations, here.
Farm Machinery Weekend – at Umberslade Farm Park. From 19th – 20th May you can bring the children to look at a display of tractors, combine harvester and other farm machinery. As well as enjoying the usual delights of this farm park. Check out what attractions they have, both indoors and outdoors on the farms website.
Dinosaur World Live at The Town Hall – on both the 19th and 20th May. A must see for those with avid dinosaur fans.

CBSO Family Film favourites at the Symphony Hall – a perfect introduction to a live classical music performance based on family film favourites including Harry Potter. Starts at 2:30pm.

Geronimo Festival 25th – 28th May – Arley Hall is hosting Geronimo Festival. Open: 10am – 9pm Every day.
“Geronimo has a kids field like no other festival, we cater solely to children allowing families to connect in a fairy tale existence for an amazing weekend”. Whether you just want to go for the day or you fancy a whole weekend of camping with the kids, there’s tickets for everyone. Geronimo is back for its 4th year and 2018 is expected to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever before! With over 100 activities.
The Smallhousebigtrips household is off here to give a family review and rumour has it that this year they will have a Spa with a creche facility. I’m hoping to give it a small try :-). We are also excited that we don’t need to carry a baby change bag for Jemima as the festival provide all nappies and wipes in the baby change areas. We cannot wait.
Have a look at all the acts that are free (within the cost of your ticket), including Justin Fletcher, Mr Bloom, Andy and Odd Socks and lots lots more. There’s going to be so much for the girls to do.

Dippy on Tour, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery – a must see over the May school holidays is a national history adventure, seeing Dippy arrive at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. A free but ticketed event, so do make sure you book a slot. Dippy is staying in the museum until September 9th, so plenty of opportunity to get a look.
Giraffe Week at West Midlands Safari Park – a chance to learn more about Giraffes whilst enjoying the safari and adventure park. Make sure you arrive early and make a full day of it.

First Stages Tom Thumb at The Birmingham Repertory Theatre – A chance for a family outing to the theatre to watch Tom Thumb, an old family favourite through many generations.

Symphony Hall, Musical Picnics, Ginger Johnson Presents Glamorous Gran and other Tall Stories – A free event held at 3pm on the third floor foyer for children aged 7 and above.

The Owl and The Pussycat – a performance held at The Old Rep Theatre for children of all ages. A perfect show for all of the family.
All Hail the Snail – A play by John Hagley at The Mac, Birmingham. Two showings at 11:30am and 2:30pm.
