On Friday lunchtime me, hubby and Jemima went to Buffet Island in Great Barr to test out the food and see how child friendly the restaurant was.

On arrival we were quickly greeted by a member of staff who took us to our seats and came back with a high chair for Jemima. We chose our drinks from a reasonable sized drinks menu for a buffet restaurant and I headed off to the buffet with Jemima for her to choose what she wanted.

There were a variety of about 35 different Chinese dishes to choose from, including;

Starters: prawn toast, chicken wings, ribs, spring rolls etc.

Mains: chicken curry, sweet and sour chicken, shredded beef (and veggie dishes)… And a number of none Chinese dishes including pizza, Yorkshire puddings, roast pork, hotdog sausages.

Sides; rice, chips, prawn crackers and salad.

Puddings; banana fritters, cakes, ice cream, jelly and fruit.

There was loads for Jemima to choose from and she loved the novelty of being able to have lots of different items. She even went for seconds on both her main and her pudding (where does she put it all?).

Jemima was a little over excited at the buffet as we had come from an Easter party, so she was very vocal but nobody seemed to mind and the staff were lovely with her and gave her lots of smiles.

The restaurant was clean, modern and well laid out, the food was standard to what you’d get in a buffet restaurant (often concentrated on quantity rather than quality and a touch on the greasy side). But it was good value for what you get and Jemima and ourselves enjoyed our lunch and would go back again in the future.

Hey, if you liked this review or maybe were inspired to try this out because of my post, you can always buy me or the kids a drink or a slice of cake on our next big trip! Just hit the button below, if you want to. 🙂
